How to Unlock It

Vertigo drops only from the XB-35 "Phoebe" Marauder world boss during the Red Moon Rising event in the PvE Dark Zone, between September 24 and November 3, 2026. The drop is not guaranteed and Ubisoft has not published a percentage, so expect to repeat the fight. Run a full squad so teammates can trade duplicates. After the event ends on November 3, 2026, Vertigo leaves the event pool and returns to the general exotic pool. See the Red Moon Rising guide for the event window and pool details, and the Dark Zone guide for current PvE Dark Zone rules.

Startling, Explained

Whenever Vertigo suppresses an enemy, that enemy takes Disorient, and you and your allies gain +30% damage to targets out of cover for 15 seconds. The buff refreshes with continued pressure, so sustained fire on grouped enemies keeps the whole squad amplified. Suppression is the trigger, not kills - volume of fire is the build.

Build Tips

Vertigo runs at 750 RPM with a 200-round belt, 35m optimal range and 65% headshot damage, and every attachment comes fixed: +15% crit chance optics, +50 round magazine, +15% reload underbarrel and +10% rate of fire muzzle. The weapon cores are fixed LMG damage and damage to targets out of cover, which stacks directly with the Startling buff. Test suppression pairings in the build planner, and see tested Division 2 builds for full setups.
