Privacy Notice

This notice explains what happens to data when you visit this site. It covers the European and United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation, data protection law as applied in this region, and the consumer privacy laws of the United States. It is written to be read, not to be skipped.

Who runs this site

Raigulus is an unofficial fan archive about The Division 2. It is run by an individual publisher and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Ubisoft, Massive Entertainment, or Yuke's. Game names, logos, and related materials belong to their owners and are used here for identification and commentary.

To exercise any right described below, or to ask a question about your data, use the contact form. Requests about analytics and advertising data are answered through the same form.

The short version

  • Analytics are off until you say yes. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity are not loaded at all until you accept them, and declining changes nothing about how the site works.
  • No account, no profile. The site does not ask you to register and does not build an advertising profile of you.
  • Video thumbnails are served by us. Opening a page does not send your address to YouTube.
  • Videos and comments only load when you ask. Clicking play or loading comments is the moment those services are contacted.
  • Your choice is reversible. The "Cookie settings" link in the footer reopens the same dialog at any time.

What is collected, and why

Strictly necessary

The site is a set of static files. Serving a page requires your network address, the page requested, and your browser's user agent string. This is ordinary web-server operation and happens whether or not you accept analytics. This site is hosted on GitHub Pages, so these access records are handled by GitHub under their own privacy terms.

Analytics, only after you accept

If you accept, two services are loaded:

  • Google Analytics 4 records which pages are viewed, the referring site, a coarse device and browser category, and an approximate area-level location derived from your network address.
  • Microsoft Clarity records a short session recording. This includes pointer movement, clicks, and which parts of a page are actually read. Clarity collects more detail than page-view analytics, which is why it is opt-in rather than automatic. It is loaded on four pages only: the Agent Briefing game, the Build Maker, and the two Diablo 4 timer pages. Those are the pages with a custom interface where a visitor can get stuck. Guide, lore, video and index pages never load it, so no session recording exists for them.

Both are used to understand which guides are useful and which pages are broken. They are not used for advertising and are not shared for advertising purposes. If you would rather we collected nothing at all, declining is a complete answer.

Outbound link tracking, only after you accept

When you accept analytics and then click a link that leaves this site, the destination domain is recorded as an analytics event. Clicks on YouTube, Instagram, Discord, and similar destinations are labelled separately. Nothing is recorded if analytics are declined.

Stored on your own device

These values never leave your browser, are not sent to us, and contain no personal detail:

  • your analytics choice, so the dialog is not shown again;
  • a record of that choice with a timestamp and the policy version in force, kept for proof that consent was given;
  • progress in the Agent Briefing mini-game, so solved days stay solved;
  • a short-lived flag that stops a loot panel refreshing twice on the same visit.

You can erase all of it at any time by clearing site data for this domain in your browser.

Video thumbnails

Thumbnails are stored on this site's own server and served from here. YouTube is not contacted to show a thumbnail, and a short appears on YouTube only if you press play. The player itself uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain, which is designed not to set tracking cookies until you interact with it.

Comment threads

Each page offers a button that loads the comment thread. Nothing is requested until you press it. The thread is hosted by GitHub Discussions through Giscus, so a comment you write is public and is handled under GitHub's privacy terms. Loading the thread also means GitHub can see the request. No thread is loaded automatically.

The feedback form

If you send feedback, you choose to give a name, an email address, and a message. That form is delivered through Web3Forms, a third-party form relay, which passes your message to the address configured for this site. The data is used only to reply to you or to act on the feedback, and is not used for marketing. Please do not send anything sensitive.

Who receives data

  • GitHub - hosting, page delivery, access logs, and the platform that hosts the comment threads.
  • Google - Analytics, only if you accepted.
  • Microsoft - Clarity session recording, only if you accepted.
  • Web3Forms - relaying feedback you chose to send.

None of these are sold, rented, or handed to advertising networks. Analytics providers act on our instructions and are not permitted to use the data for their own purposes.

How long data is kept

  • Analytics event data is deleted after 2 months. This is the retention window configured in the analytics account, and it is shorter than the service default of 14 months.
  • Analytics user-level data is deleted after 2 months as well, with the "reset on new activity" option enabled. That means a visitor who keeps returning has their identifier window refreshed each time, so an identifier for a regularly active visitor can persist longer than two months. Turning this option off would make the window absolute; it is left on because it reduces the amount of data tied to a single person over time.
  • Session recordings are the shortest-lived category here. Their retention window is set inside Microsoft's own service rather than in this site's settings, and it is shorter than the analytics window above. Declining analytics means session recording is never loaded at all.
  • Server request logs follow GitHub Pages' published retention policy.
  • Feedback is kept only while the message is being dealt with, and is then deleted.
  • Consent records on your device stay until you clear them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may ask to:

  • get a copy of the personal data held about you;
  • correct anything inaccurate;
  • have data erased;
  • restrict or object to certain processing;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what was lawful before you did;
  • complain to your local data protection authority.

Because analytics and Clarity never reach this site's servers until you accept them, the data they hold cannot be retrieved or deleted from here. If you accepted, the fastest route is to decline again in Cookie settings and then use the provider's own controls: the Google Analytics controls in your browser, and the Clarity data deletion options under the account associated with your acceptance. The remaining data, feedback messages, is directly ours and we will act on those requests through the contact form.

Automated decision making and profiling

None. No decision with legal or similarly significant effect is made about you, and no advertising profile is built.

Children

This is a gaming reference site and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, and no part of it asks for identifying information beyond what you voluntarily type into the feedback form.

International transfers

The site is published through a global hosting network, and the analytics providers named above operate globally. Where information is sent outside your own region, the relevant safeguards apply. You can avoid all of it by declining analytics.

Changes to this notice

When this notice changes materially, the version and date below change with it. If the change affects how your data is used, the analytics dialog will be shown again so you can decide afresh, because your previous choice applies to the policy version it was made under.
