The Division 2 / Y5S1 Update

Division 2 Broken Wings Update Guide

Year 5 Season 1 launched on June 8, 2023 with a twist nobody expected: the manhunt targets are civilians to rescue, not rogues to hunt. Plus a brand-new rogue-lite mode anyone can play. Our plain-language summary below: full texts live on Ubisoft's news hub.

Rescue Manhunt

Instead of chasing rogue agents, you pull hostages out of Black Tusk hands: John Yazzie, Eva Garcia, Lauren Fong and Mitchell Billings first, then ex-aquarium director Mari Singh from the zoo. Every rescue feeds the Castle settlement rebuild while Natalya Sokolova plays power politics in the background. Target order on our manhunts hub.

Descent Mode

A free 1-to-4 player rogue-lite with no expansion gate: you drop into a high-tech bunker simulation stripped of gear and SHD tech, then draft weapons, skills and talents floor by floor against an endlessly scaling curve. My solo run reaching Nemesis with nothing is on the channel, perfect first taste before the weekly push. Mode notes live on our Escalation hub.

New Loot

St. Elmo's Engine (Exotic AR)Actum Est: hits stack up, and at a full hundred your next magazine fires shock rounds.
Shocker Punch (Exotic Holster)Defibrillator: shrugs off electric stuns faster and turns shields and melee into shock delivery, paired with Elmo's it hits even harder on a short cooldown.
Cavalier (Set)Out-of-cover survival set: hazard protection and incoming repairs that charge into team-wide damage sharing at full power.
Electrique (Brand)Crowd-control brand whose backpack converts your disables into shared bonus armor for the whole squad.
Cabaret / Big ShowNamed MP5 and MG5 for close-quarters and sustained-fire roles.

Season Flavor

A Splinter Cell outfit headlines the season pass, with SHD and Black Tusk vanity arriving in the mid-season apparel event.
