The Division 2 / Y8S3.2 Update
Division 2 Y8S3.2 Red Moon Unleashed Update Guide
Title Update Y8S3.2 landed on October 13, 2026 with the Red Moon Unleashed event, a Creator Collaboration, three multiplier weeks and two large endgame reworks. Escalation no longer charges an entry token, and Conflict grew to 200 ranks with a new vendor. Our plain-language summary below: full texts live on Ubisoft's patch notes.
Red Moon Unleashed Event
Red Moon Rising was only the beginning. From October 15 through November 3, enemies the Division once dismissed as myth answer the Necromancer's call, and the Red Moon's influence spreads beyond the Dark Zone. Light fog gives way to heavy storms and a Blood Storm. Every player who logs in during the event receives the Bound Slasher Mask for free.
Enemies
| Lunatic modifier | Enemies entering combat can become Lunatic, gaining extra damage and rate of fire. On death they explode across a wide area, and the blast damage scales with the hit that killed them. |
|---|---|
| Moon Cultists | Members of the Hyenas, True Sons, Outcasts, Black Tusk and Underground have taken on this new identity. They appear in groups as you explore, with more spawning during Heavy Storms and Blood Storms. |
Event Bosses
Clear enough Moon Cultists and you may attract attention. The Necromancer, Risen Hunter and Bloody Houndsman are all out there, each with its own reward table.
| Necromancer | Guaranteed Bound Necromancer Mask, plus an Exotic Cache at 80% or Sarru at 20%. Heroic in West End while solo instead becomes Necromancer Unleashed, which pays one Event Key, the Necromancer Hive Skill VFX, and an Exotic Cache at 80% or Ouroboros at 20%. |
|---|---|
| Risen Hunter | Guaranteed Bound Risen Hunter Mask, plus an Exotic Cache at 80% or Vertigo at 20%. |
| Bloody Houndsman | Guaranteed Bloody Houndsman Mask, Gloves, Backpack, Uniform and Bat Drone Skill VFX, plus regular Hunter loot. Does not drop an Event Key. |
Revenant Bounties
Six familiar enemies return with new looks. Defeat Moon Cultists across D.C. for a chance at a Revenant Bounty, then follow it to its target. Completing one pays an Event Key, a 50% chance at a themed arm patch, and an Exotic Cache at 80% or the featured Exotic Weapon at 20%.
| Eagle Bearer | The Burning Eye |
|---|---|
| Regulus | The Carver |
| The Bound | Steel & Sons |
| The Mocker | Scarecrow |
| Prima Donna | The Fool's Light |
| The Bighorn | Dousing the Light |
Eliminating all six completes the event commendation and earns the Necromancer Arm Patch.
Event Keys and the Vendor
Keys come from Moon Cultist kills, the Necromancer and Risen Hunter, and completed Revenant Bounties. Cultist kills award a key after a set number of kills that depends on difficulty.
| Normal | 14 kills |
|---|---|
| Hard | 14 kills |
| Challenging | 12 kills |
| Heroic | 10 kills |
The Daily Boost halves those requirements for your first 150 Moon Cultist kills each day, with a fixed daily reset at 08:00 UTC. Enemies killed during a Revenant Bounty do not count toward the requirement, but finishing a bounty awards one Event Key. The event vendor at the Base of Operations opens Apparel and Gear Caches or takes donations toward the Community Challenge. Unused Event Keys are removed when the event ends, and unused Apparel Keys convert back to Premium Credits at 100 each.
Event Caches
Apparel Caches hold 43 items from five outfits plus weapon and gear dyes: The Burning Eye, The Bound, The Fool's Light, The Carver and The Raven. Collecting everything unlocks a The Necromancer Backpack Trophy. Apparel Keys cost 100 Premium Credits each and only open Apparel Caches.
Gear Caches return seasonal rewards alongside Named, Exotic and Prototype gear. The headline item is Lichtenberg, a Named Classic M1A built around movement and headshots.
| Run and Gun (PvE) | Moving accrues 5 stacks per second up to 100. A Lichtenberg headshot grants 15 stacks and 20% Movement Speed for 5s. At full stacks your next shot spends them all, deals 200% bonus damage and Shocks the target for 2 seconds. |
|---|---|
| Run and Gun (PvP) | Moving accrues 5 stacks per second up to 100. A headshot grants 10 stacks and 10% Movement Speed for 3s. At full stacks the next shot spends them all, deals 70% bonus damage and Shocks for 1 second. |
| Prototype Lichtenberg Event Weapon | 1% |
|---|---|
| Prototype Gear Sets | 1% |
| Prototype Seasonal Named Items | 1% |
| Lichtenberg Event Weapon | 7% |
| Seasonal Exotics | 25% |
| Seasonal Named Items | 30% |
| Special Named Items | 20% |
| Gear Mods | 10% |
| Skill Mods | 5% |
Twenty Red Moon Altars sit in and around D.C.'s decorated areas. Each can be destroyed once per day with all locations resetting at 08:00 UTC, and destroying one may pull a group of Moon Cultists.
Community Challenge
The event runs a shared cross-platform challenge where every key contributes.
| 3M Keys | The Fool's Light Jacket |
|---|---|
| 10M Keys | The Fool's Light Pants |
| 20M Keys | The Fool's Lantern Mask |
Your own contributions unlock a personal track, ending in the Sinister Spells Backpack Trophy at 200 keys, with the Scorpio at 20, the Caretaker at 100 and a Caretaker Bloodstone skin at 150.
Creator Collaboration
From October 15 through November 3, PurePrime, SOLIDFPS and Widdz each get a collaboration chain. Every creator has six projects moving through different Named Zones in D.C., and each project asks for five activities in its designated zone.
A new project releases in each chain daily and must be completed in order, but there is no need to finish one on the day it arrives: released projects stay available until November 3. Progress pays Named Item Caches, Exotic Components, Recalibration Caches and Optimization Caches, and finishing all six projects in a creator's chain unlocks their themed backpack.
More creator apparel hides in loot containers across the game, with a cap, T-shirt and hoodie available for each creator.
Stats and Multiplier Events
| Shepherd XP x3 (Oct 13 - 20) | Triple Shepherd XP for calling backup and helping other Agents. |
|---|---|
| Expertise Surge (Oct 20 - 27) | Double upgrade materials from all sources. |
| Vanguard Overdrive (Oct 27 - Nov 3) | +50% Reload Speed, +50% Swap Speed, +40% Hazard Protection, +20% Movement Speed and +15% Armor on Kill. |
Classified Assignments
Red Horizon's second Classified Assignment, The Georgetown Dead Zone, opens on October 15. A JTF engineering team went into an area of Georgetown beyond the SHD network's reach to install new technology, and they have not come back.
Escalation Rework
Starting a run no longer costs a token. You only need a minimum balance matching the tier you want to play: 1 token for Tier 1, 5 for Tier 5 and 10 for Tier 10. Those tokens stay in your inventory even if the run fails or you disconnect, so an unexpected ending no longer eats your entry fee. The same rule covers matchmaking.
Keep the required balance in mind before spending at the vendor, because dropping below a tier's requirement locks you out of that tier until you earn more tokens.
Hosts and teammates now earn the same completion reward, adjusted alongside the removal of the entry cost.
| Tier 0 - 4 | 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 tokens |
|---|---|
| Tier 5 - 7 | 7, 9 and 12 tokens |
| Tier 8 - 10 | 17, 22 and 30 tokens |
Prices at the Escalation Requisition Vendor are unchanged. Ubisoft says more Escalation improvements are planned for next season.
Conflict Rework
The Conflict rank cap rose from 100 to 200, and every rank above 100 costs the same XP as rank 100. Each rank-up awards 45 Conflict Commendation Currency (CCC), and matches now pay 30 CCC for a loss or 60 CCC for a win.
CCC replaces the caches previously awarded at the end of a match, and milestone ranks pay 45 CCC plus a cache that depends on where you are: Conflict caches at ranks 5 to 30, 105 to 120, Conflict Specialist caches at 35 to 70 and 135 to 165, DZ Exotic Component caches at 75 to 95 and 170 to 175, and DZ Prototype caches at 100, 125 to 130 and 180 to 200.
The existing cosmetic track stays, now joined by an extra Conflict Cache per reward: Rogue Boots at 12, Rogue Pants at 22, Rogue Shirt at 32, Rogue Scarf at 42, Rogue Shades at 52, Rogue Bandana at 62, the Major League Gear Dye at 72, the MVP Weapon Skin at 82, the Challenger Patch at 92 and the Conflict Trophy at 102.
Prometheus Terminal
A Prometheus Terminal is now active beneath the helipad at the Base of Operations, and it is where CCC gets spent. It unlocks at Character Level 15 and its items scale to Level 40.
| Caches | Conflict, Conflict Specialist, DZ Exotic Component, Reconstructed and DZ Prototype. |
|---|---|
| Daily rotation | 2x high-roll Named weapons, 2x high-roll Named gear pieces, 2x high-roll gear set pieces, 2x high-roll gear or skill mods, 1x random Exotic and 1x random Prototype. |
A Comm Log near the terminal plays only static, with a data string left on screen.
Gear Tuning
Rifles and Marksman Rifles got more ammo and a bigger headshot bonus.
| Ammo capacity | +20% for Rifles and MMRs. |
|---|---|
| Headshot damage | The base bonus rose from 60% to 80%. |
| Critical Hit Damage | Maximum rose to 34% on High-End and Exotic Rifles, and 51% on Prototype Rifles. Other qualities are unchanged. |
The Crit Damage change is retroactive: keep the same progress on your attribute bar, so a High-End Rifle that sat at 17% now shows 34%, and your Library is updated to match. Handle Stability passed on the ACR SS, M16A2, Lightweight M4, LVOA-C, Urban MDR, USC .45 ACP, Ruthless and Merciless rifles, plus the G28, Surplus SVD and Paratrooper SVD marksman rifles.
These apply in both PvE and PvP, except talent value changes, which are PvE only.
Exotic Tuning
| Ravenous | Optics mod moved from +10% Accuracy to +15% Crit Chance. |
|---|---|
| Diamondback | Optics mod moved from +10% Accuracy to +15% Crit Damage. |
| Nemesis | Magazine mod raised from +10% to +20% Reload Speed. |
| Shroud | Muzzle mod moved from +5% Crit Damage to +10% Weapon Handling. |
| Prima Donna | Amplified Damage per stack reduced from 12.5% to 11%. |
| Vindicator | Magazine mod raised from +5 to +20 Rounds, and you can now switch between scope-in and ADS. |
| Mantis | Headshot and Weakpoint Amplified Damage rose from 50% to 65%, and optics went from +40% to +45% Headshot Damage. |
| Dread Edict | Optics mod moved from +40% to +45% Headshot Damage. |
| Doctor Home | Group Armor Kit healing raised from 10% to 50% Repair. |
| Ruthless and Merciless | Optics mod raised from +10% to +15% Crit Chance, and you can now switch between scope-in and ADS. |
PvP Gear and Brand Sets
A second pass adjusted brand bonuses specifically for PvP. The clearest winners:
| Aegis (3-piece) | 60% Health to 100% Health, and 15% to 21% Total Armor. |
|---|---|
| Gila Guard (2-piece) | 4% to 7% Total Armor. |
| Uzina Getica (2-piece) | 4% to 7% Total Armor. |
| Badger Tuff (3-piece) | 12% to 14% Total Armor. |
| Foundry Bulwark (3-piece) | 10% to 14% Armor. |
The clearest cuts:
| Hotshot (3-piece) | 20% to 10% MMR Damage. |
|---|---|
| Habsburg (2-piece) | 8% to 6% Headshot Damage and 15% to 10% MMR Damage. |
| Airaldi (2-piece) | 10% to 6% MMR Damage and 12% to 10% Headshot Damage. |
| Overlord (2-piece) | 10% to 8% Rifle Damage. |
| Zwiadowka (3-piece) | 15% to 14% Rifle Damage. |
| Grupo Sombra (3-piece) | 16% to 14% Headshot Damage. |
| Providence Defense (2-piece) | 8% to 6% Headshot Damage, and 20% Critical Hit Damage became 20% Critical Hit Chance. |
PvP Talent Tuning
Two talents changed role rather than numbers. Rugged Gauntlets left PvP in favour of Iron Grip at +20% Weapon Handling, and Acosta's Kneepads was replaced by Escape Plan at +6% Movement Speed. Status Effect Movement Impairment penalty dropped from 30% to 20%.
Buffed: Spotter (8% to 10%, Perfect 12% to 16%), Combined Arms (10% to 12%, duration 3s to 4s), Unstoppable Force (12% to 14%), Overwatch (14% to 18%), Galvanize (radius 4m to 8m, Perfect 6m to 14m), Back and Forth, Vindictive Crit Damage, and Sarru's Bleeding Edge, whose range grew from 7m to 12m. Caduceus healing rose from 3% to 4%.
Nerfed: Glass Cannon (20% to 15% damage dealt, 40% to 30% damage taken, Perfect 25%/50% to 20%/40%), Streamline (24% to 16%, Perfect 28% to 20%), Brazen (1.8% to 1.5% per pellet), Tamper Proof (radius 3m to 4m but cooldown 10s to 15s), Explosive Delivery (40% to 100% grenade damage with a longer cooldown), In Sync (weapon damage 10% to 6%, duration 5s to 4s), Vindictive Crit Chance (14% to 10% with duration 24s to 10s), Obliterate (duration 10s to 6s, stacks 14 to 12), Kinetic Momentum (0.8% to 1% per stack), and Sarru's Decoy King (amplifier ceiling 22% to 20%).
Fixes
| Movement Speed | Bonuses from Quickstep, Acosta, Lady Death and similar now stack additively with a 20% cap, instead of multiplying. |
|---|---|
| Red Moon bosses | Dropped regular items instead of contaminated items in the PvE Dark Zone. |
| Exotics after Phoebe | Capacitor, Nemesis, Dread Edict, Liberty, Chatterbox, Ridgeway's Pride, Dodge City Gunslinger, Catharsis, Overlord and Acosta's Kneepads dropped far too often. |
| Retaliation Anniversary | Project progress reset every hour. |
| Conflict | Overdrive Micro Event stat multipliers applied inside Conflict and are now disabled there. |
| Sticky Bomb | Agents were not protected from it inside Conflict spawn zones. |
| Incendiary Turret | The visual effect extended past the real damage radius and placement indicator. |
| Striker's Gamble | The stack counter read 300 instead of 200 on entering the Dark Zone. |
| Supply Drop UI | Incorrectly listed NinjaBike Messenger Kneepads as a reward. |
| Library of Congress | The Classified Assignment showed a collectible count of 6/5. |
What This Means for Builds
Rifle builds get a straight buff: more ammo, a larger headshot bonus and a higher Crit Damage ceiling, with existing rolls carried over rather than rerolled. Check what your Rifles are worth in the build planner. Escalation is the bigger practical change, since a failed or disconnected run no longer costs you a tier entry, and the Prometheus Terminal turns Conflict into a Prototype and Exotic source.
FAQ
- When does Red Moon Unleashed run?
- Red Moon Unleashed runs from October 15 through November 3, 2026, with light fog giving way to heavy storms and a Blood Storm.
- Does starting an Escalation run still cost a token?
- No. Starting an Escalation activity no longer consumes Escalation Tokens. You only need a minimum balance matching the tier you want to play, and those tokens stay in your inventory even if the run fails or you disconnect.
- What changed for Conflict?
- The Conflict rank cap rose from 100 to 200, matches now pay Conflict Commendation Currency, and a new Prometheus Terminal at the Base of Operations sells high-tier gear, exotics and Prototypes for levels 15 to 40.
- Do my existing Rifles keep their Critical Hit Damage?
- Yes. The change is retroactive. Keep the same progress on the attribute bar and your gear carries that progress to the new maximum, and your Library is updated to match.
- What happens to unused Event Keys?
- Unused Event Keys are removed when the event ends on November 3. Unused Apparel Keys convert back to Premium Credits at 100 each.
