Diablo 4 / World Boss

Wandering Death

Wandering Death is a colossal skeletal construct of bone and shadow that drags chains of death across whichever zone it appears in.

Wandering Death is the most straightforward of the core World Bosses to read in-game: a large, slow, high-hp fight where the 15-minute window matters more than the mechanics. Groups that clear it usually do so by committing early rather than playing around the damage.

When Wandering Death Spawns

World Bosses spawn on a 3.5-hour cycle, which is 210 minutes, and stay in the world for 15 minutes. Blizzard broadcasts a message to all players when the boss is 15 minutes away, and the boss icon appears on your map so you can teleport straight to the spawn point.

The Diablo 4 World Boss timer lists the next twelve spawn times in UTC and in your own time zone, and can send you a browser alert before the window opens. It deliberately does not name the boss for each spawn, because Blizzard does not publish the rotation.

How to Prepare

Window15 minutes. A missed window means another three and a half hours.
GroupWorld Bosses are server-wide events, so other players are already there.
TeleportTeleport in from the map once the boss icon appears rather than running to the zone.
Daily cacheThe guaranteed cache drops once per day, so one clear a day is enough.
TormentAncestral items enter the reward pool in Torment III and above.

FAQ

When does Wandering Death spawn?
World Bosses spawn on a 3.5-hour cycle, and Wandering Death appears somewhere in that rotation. Blizzard does not publish the rotation order, so this page does not guess which spawn is next - the [World Boss timer](/diablo-4/world-boss-timer/) lists the next twelve spawn times.
What does Wandering Death drop?
Legendary items, summoning materials, experience and Gilding Crests, plus a guaranteed reward cache once per day. In Torment III and above the reward pool includes Ancestral items.
How long do I have to kill it?
Fifteen minutes from the moment it spawns. Blizzard broadcasts a message to all players 15 minutes ahead, and the boss icon appears on your map so you can teleport straight to it.
